Weddings; Then & Now
September 20, 2016

They say that marriages are made in heaven. So it’s only right to look royal on your wedding day. Attires of the couple, the family, friends and attendees bring opulence in the wedding. Sifting libraries of designs, several trips to the designer and a couple of trial sessions is what it takes to make heads turn and jaws drop.

One of the biggest transformations in weddings; then and now, thankfully, is in the attire itself. People today are ditching the traditional red and green, opting for more vibrant colors with a sense of Indo-Western style. While women are swapping saris for jazzier lehengas, men choose achkans style sherwanis. From a floor-length skirt with an embroidered top to a silk saree styled in an unconventional way like a chooridar, there’s a lot of innovation in today’s women fashion. Complementing them the men have upped their game with styles like embroideries on bundhgalas and silk or velvet duppattas over the shervanis.

The jewellery is getting grander and swankier than ever. Asymmetric necklaces, Crown style maang tikkas and Double stranded necklaces are some of recent trending styles. Also gone are the days when women would visit a local salon for their bridal hair and makeup. Now, everyone hires a professional who is aware of the latest trends, uses the best international brands, and can really transform your face by saying goodbye to a cakey, overly made-up face. Men too are experimenting with hairstyles; some dapper, some quirky.
